As time went on, Peter became a part of Jesus’ inner circle of friends. Jesus had Peter by his side when he raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead (as seen in Mark 5:35-43), and he was a part of the Transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17:1-9). Peter was also one of the disciples who stayed with Jesus on the night of his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Peter’s life is an excellent example of the forgiveness God has for all people who call upon His name. The night that Jesus was arrested, Peter denied that he knew Jesus three times. Soon, Peter realized that what he had done was wrong, and he repented of his sin. As a result, God used Peter in great ways to grow His church. Peter traveled all across the region preaching the message of salvation, and many people were born again because of his willingness to serve God.
